About the Rocky Knoll Trail Development Project
With County and community support, SCC completed a funding campaign in 2025 and contracted Dynamic Trailworx (Stevens Point) to rebuild most of the trails in the wooded 60-acre Rocky Knoll Trail System just north of Plymouth. The new MTB-optimized trails include the first machine built flow trails, dedicated jump lines, and true green (beginner) trail loop in Sheboygan County. The project also included new wayfinding and trailhead signage.
Flow trails are built with smooth turns and downhill rolling terrain, allowing riders to maintain momentum with minimal pedaling. Jumps-based trails are designed with features to develop rider skill level. Rocky Knoll features dedicated jump lines for beginner, intermediate and advanced riders. There are currently no other professionally built MTB flow trails within a 45 minute drive, making Rocky Knoll a destination for area mountain biking.
SCC would like to express profound gratitude to the donors who made the Rocky Knoll trail improvements possible:
- Jason & Heidi Bemis
- FK Bemis Family Foundation
- Sheboygan County Stewardship
- Wisconsin Department of Natural Resources
- Sheboygan Active Transportation
- Stephen & Erica Gilbert
- Dr. Dan Francis
- Tom “Doc” Reis
- Lynn Dzuba DVM
- 36 Additional Individual Donors
Additionally, SCC would like to recognize Tristan Lauer from Kiel Scout Troop 833, who planned and built new mountain bike skill features at Rocky Knoll for his Eagle Scout project completed in November 2025. Tristan led 26 volunteers from the Kiel Scout Troop, Sheboygan Composite Mountain Bike Team and SCC to install three skinnies, a teetertotter, a wood table top ramp, and a giant stone feature.
