Sheboygan County Recognized as Bicycle Friendly Community

January 2025 Sheboygan County is recognized as a Bronze Level Bicycle Friendly Community

Sheboygan County has again been certified by the League of American Bicyclists as a Bronze Level Bicycle Friendly Community (BFC).

As part of our commitment to be a great place to live and thrive, Sheboygan County Cycling applied for the League of American Bicyclists’ prestigious Bicycle Friendly Community award for Sheboygan County. SCC partners with Sheboygan County communities to help make them more bike friendly. We’re proud to be part of the 460 communities across the United States that are transforming America, one Bicycle Friendly Community at a time.

“Bicycling is more than just a mode of transportation—it’s a powerful tool for building healthier communities, fostering sustainability, and connecting people,” said Bill Nesper, executive director of the League of American Bicyclists. “The cities and towns recognized in this round of Bicycle Friendly Community awards are leading the way by investing in infrastructure and programs that make biking an easier, safer, and more accessible choice. Their leadership demonstrates that supporting bicycling is an investment in a healthier future for everyone.”

People across Sheboygan County are biking more than ever, for commuting, for trips to the store or other errands, and for recreation. The Bronze Level BFC award recognizes Sheboygan County’s commitment to improving cycling opportunities through bike education programs, bike events that promote and encourage people to choose biking, pro-bike policies, and bike infrastructure. We are thrilled to celebrate this award and our community’s efforts to build a healthier Sheboygan County.

“The ongoing work of SCC is promoting all forms of cycling in Sheboygan County through volunteer trail maintenance, bike playgrounds and other youth events, and cycling infrastructure improvements including our current trail development projects for Rocky Knoll and Evergreen Park,” said SCC President Nathaniel Darling. “This certification is a great accomplishment for our community, and we look forward to improving our BFC ranking as Sheboygan County becomes a destination for all kinds of cycling.”
