Michelle Kolberg

Treasurer – JOINED Fall 2022

Q- Why are you passionate about SCC?

A – If you had asked me a couple of years ago what kind of riding I did, I would not have known there were so many kinds – I rode a hybrid bike for a few short triathlons and on some paved trails socially with friends. Since then, I have been introduced to Mountain biking, Fat tire biking, Gravel biking, Cyclocross racing, Group Road training, Adventure races, and all things biking and riding. Biking has opened up a whole new world of activity and friendships. This world includes the Sheboygan County Cycling group. Being new to biking, I saw this organization as a way to meet more people, support the amazing work they are doing in the community, and encourage other new riders to learn how riding can be incorporated into their lives.

Q- What is your day job?

A – I have over 22 years with Kohler Power Systems, with the majority of that time spent in operations and materials management. I currently supervise an amazing team that makes me look good. I also love how they encourage and appreciate all my crazy biking and outdoor adventure stories every week.

Q- What is your role in the organization?

A – With less biking experience that all the other board members, I wanted to find a way to be part of this amazing group. The treasurer position allows me to support the board and be actively involved.

Q- What are some of your other interests?

A – I love all things camping. In a camper, a tent, a hammock, a hot tent in winter, or a snow shelter! Now that I bike, my camping trips have turned into biking trips that include camping. Hiking as another favorite outdoor activity, ln 2018 I hiked to Mount Everest Base camp. I have recently taken up skiing, my passion for that is yet to be determined. I also enjoy spending time with my grandkids, my trusty dog Hank, and all the amazing friends and family in my life.

Q- Fun Fact!

A – Before biking, I was a runner. I started a goal to run a half marathon in every state, and as of 2022 I have completed 22 states, and still slowly working towards that goal.

Ross Ristow

Secretary – JOINED SPRING 2022

Q- Why are you passionate about SCC?

A – I am a life-long cyclist and was excited to join the board of Sheboygan County Cycling whose mission improves the quality of live in our community. I love road, mountain and fat biking, but am from an era before MTB…So road cycling is what got me into the sport and my real passion. I continue to race, train and participate in group rides. After decades of riding, I still literally can’t wait for my workday to end and to get on my bike. It brings me joy and takes away my stress.

Q- What is your day job?

A – Professionally, I’ve got 30 years of experience leading global organizations and large projects.

Q- What is your role in the organization?

A – Organization is a core part of my personality, so it wasn’t a surprise when I was “volunforced” to take the role of secretary. My primary contribution to our organization is writing grant applications for our major project.

Q- What are some of your other interests?

A – Off the bike and outside of work, my interests include Nordic Skiing, hunting and just about anything outdoors.

Q- Fun Fact!

A – UW Athletic Director (and NFL star) Pat Richter asked me to start the University of Wisconsin–Madison Cycling team way back in 1990. My collegiate race record was zero wins.

Q- Why are you passionate about SCC?

A – Cycling has always given me a child-like sense of adventure and I am a strong believer in the positive impact that cycling has on quality of life. I love road cycling and light trail rides, often at a leisurely pace to enjoy the scenery and chat with friends. I enjoy the roads near Kohler-Andrae State Park, Sheboygan, and Plymouth and occasionally do longer-distance tours and mountain biking.

Q- What is your day job?

A – I’ve worked in the Home Lending field for 8 years and as a Mortgage Loan Originator with Kohler Credit Union since 2021. I love being a resource for people in the community when they need financing solutions. It’s a joy to serve my clients during their home-buying journey and help them achieve their goals.

Q- What is your role in the organization?

A – Riding bikes has been a passion for me since my youth and I am grateful for the opportunity to serve on the board of Sheboygan County Cycling. I knew I had to get involved when I learned that SCC advocates for a wide range of cycling experiences and promotes Sheboygan County as a safe and fun place to ride bikes. My hope is that we can continue to grow the bike-friendliness in our community and I will look to create opportunities for people to connect at events and contribute to future projects.

Q- What are some of your other interests?

A – Off the bike, my other interests include camping, sailing, fishing, art and music.

Q- Fun Fact!

A – Most weeks, you can find me participating in a local Axe-throwing league.

Q- Why are you passionate about SCC?

A – Growing up in rural Wisconsin, I found my first freedom on a bicycle. 13 miles from the nearest town necessitated me becoming a “commuter” at an early age and, plywood ramps in the backyard was the best way to spend every day. 30 years on and I still love sending jumps and commute to work daily. We are so passionate at SCC about improving our community’s mental and physical health through bicycling and providing opportunities for people to engage outdoors with one another in nature and in our towns; in my view: a better world.

Q- What is your day job?

A – I’ve worked in the Green Industry for 30 years. From Natural Resource Management and Care in my teens and Bonsai Nursery fun in my twenties to Corporate Campus Environments currently, I struggle to find a place of belonging outside of nature.

Q- What is your role in the organization?

A – I’m a stickler when it comes to details so I find myself interjecting on all things SCC (sorry team). My focus with SCC has been on the Trails Committee from the start and also with coordinating events. We need quality trails close to home and we need events that get the community stoked to chip in to help make more quality trails a reality.

Q- What are some of your other interests?

A – When I’m not completely present on a bike, what I like to refer to as “zen-in-motion”, you can find me Hiking, Kayaking, writing, singing, playing drums; yeah that’s good stuff too!

Q- Fun Fact!

A – In my youth I worked in the Wisconsin Conservation Corps based out of Maywood Environmental Park’s basement and built and maintained many of the trails still in use today.

Q- Why are you passionate about SCC?

A – I am an avid fat bike rider whose favorite race season is winter. I also ride mountain and gravel bikes to fill in the rest of the seasons when there isn’t snow on the ground. Riding bikes brings your attention into the moment and gives you the chance to clear your mind, while focusing on the ride. I was excited when Sheboygan County Cycling came into fruition as an organized way to grow the sport in Sheboygan County. We have great resources and a great community to help build involvement in the hobby.

Q- What is your day job?

A – During the week I am an IT technical services manager running projects and keeping the team moving on all things’ technology.

Q- What is your role in the organization?

A – When it comes to SCC, I am an active board member, assisting in event planning, fundraising and races.

Q- What are some of your other interests?

A – When I am not working or on a bike, I am usually doing something in nature and have just begun learning to XC Ski to cross train through all the seasons.

Q- Fun Fact!

A – Let’s see what we can do for cycling in Sheboygan County, making great use of our resources and community!

A – I grew up in Sheboygan and returned after college where I work at Kohler as a Packaging Engineer.

Q- Why are you passionate about SCC?

A – I am excited about SCC because Shebogyan County is an amazing place to live, raise a family, own a business, and ride bikes! I’ve been riding bikes in the county for 20-years. Bicycling locally is how I’ve meet MOST of my friends here, as I’m not from Sheboygan. I’ve evolved from doing triathlon to road biking, to mountain biking. Biking is a fitness activity, a stress-reliever, a life-time hobby, and a social activity. From our great country roads to the parks like Evergreen, Greenbush, and Rocky Knoll, we need to do more to promote the “life-style”. SCC is done AMAZING work in the last year-plus. I wanted to support it through my local business, and help to spread the word!

Q- What is your day job?

A – I own Ivars USA. We are a product development, project management, and global-connected company that networks US furniture manufacturers with domestic and international partners to develop successful world-class furniture for Business, Health Care, Education, Hospitality, and Institutional environments.

Q- What is your role in the organization?

A – I am very new to the Board of SCC, so I will support where it serves the Organization best. It is a pleasure to begin to meet and know the current members, they are truly passionate and inspirational! I hope to bring enthusiasm and support to their efforts to benefit our community.

Q- What are some of your other interests?

A – My interests include motorcycle riding (dirt and road), fitness, and spending time at Road America with my wife and friends.

Q- Fun Fact!

A – My favorite sport is Rugby.
