Rocky Knoll Flow Trails Development Project

Sheboygan County Cycling is leading an exciting project to fund and build two new mountain bike flow trails in the wooded, 60-acre Rocky Knoll Trail System just north of Plymouth, Wisconsin.

Thank you to our generous supporters! With donations and grants we reached 138% of our goal, and trail building will begin in Spring 2025.

Current Rocky Knoll Biking & Hiking Trails

  • Rocky Knoll currently has about four miles of intermediate single track trails in three loops, all multi-use.
  • Trails were hand-built in 2019 by different groups, each loop with a different feel.
  • More attention was given to maximizing the amount of trails than to creating an optimal mountain biking experience.
  • The winding, rough-cut trails can be challenging for novice mountain bikers.
  • Current trails are not groomed for winter fatbike riding.

New Rocky Knoll Mountain Bike Flow Trails

  • Rocky Knoll is centrally located in tourism-friendly Sheboygan County with easy access to Plymouth, Elkhart Lake, Road America and Kiel, along with restaurants, microbreweries and hotels.
  • No trail pass is required.
  • There are no comparable mountain biking flow trails within a 45 minute drive of the area.
  • Two professionally built flow trails (over 1.75 miles) are planned, with the option to add more.
  • Greater than 100 foot descent on each new trail.
  • New trails can be more easily groomed for winter fatbike riding to provide outstanding year-round riding opportunities.

Professionally built mountain bike flow trails feature rolling terrain with banked turns, various types of jumps, and consistent surfaces. SCC is pleased to be working with Dynamic Trailworx for the design and construction of the new Rocky Knoll flow trails. They have made trail improvements at the popular Standing Rocks Park in Portage. Below are examples of the types of features that are planned for the new trails. Rocky Knoll features will likely be on a smaller scale.
